LIGHTNING VORTEX
Normal Magic
Discard 1 card from your hand. Destroy all Face-Up Monsters on your
Opponent's field.
Pros
-Raigeki revived!
-More widespread then all the other Normal Magic monster destruction cards.
Cons
-Bad Topdecker... unless you got Killer Snake in the cemetery...
-Only effects face-up monsters
Ok ok, I know... the cons I made for this card are crap. This is a great card. Now, as I did with Sage,
I will compare this card with it's closest LEGAL counterpart: Exclusivity Virus.
This card is a normal magic. That means that destruction wise, it kicks the living crap out of Broken Earth, Earth
Crusher, and Hammer Shoot (Fissure, Smashing Ground, and Hammer Shot). The same goes for Exclusivity Virus. The
reason that Exclusivity Virus is on the "Staple" level of cards, is that as long as a monster card is a monster card (yeah,
weird sentense structure and poor choice of words), then Exclusive has a way to use it's effect.
The costs of both cards are the same for both sides, and in my opinion, this card is on equal strength as Exclusivity
Virus and heres why:
Lightning Vortex destroys all faceup monsters on your opponent's field. Dragon, Beast, Warrior, whatever.
As long as they are face-up, they die (unless countered). This is MUCH stronger then Exclusivity Virus who does badly
against a random selection of subtype monsters that alot of decks such as Control, Element, and Beatdown decks.
The problem with Lightning Vortex is the fact that it is just a normal magic. Exclusivity Virus has 1600 attack
points. This means that after you clear a field, your able to gain a nice 1600 advantage, and have a monster to cushion
attacks. Lightning Vortex isn't a Permanent Magic, it isn't an Instant Magic... so it's not going to help you much for
defense and might leave you very vulnerable.
This is a strict offense card. The reason being that it's a terrible topdeck, and clearing your opponent's faceup
monsters isn't going to help when it takes 3 full turns to get things done. (turn 1: draw Vortex. Turn 2: draw
another card for discarding. Turn 3: draw a card that can take advantage of the "empty" field.) It's abit risky.
The topdecking factor can easily be treated with a single Killer Snake, and I don't really think it really matters much
anymore since about 70-80% of all cards in the game doesn't help during topdecking (hint why they call it "TOPDECKING")
6.5/10- Great card. On the same level as Exclusivity Virus in my own opinion, but it gets lower
points simply because this card doesn't have any sort of defensive elements. This is a pure-out offense type card that
decks might be able to base around. (hint: Night Assassin)
