BLADE KNIGHT
Light/Warrior/4/1600/1000
If you have 1 or fewer cards in your hand, increase this card's attack
strength by 400. Also, if this is the only Monster card on your Field, the effects of Reverse Effect Monsters destroyed
by this card as a result of Battle are negated.
Pros:
-Great card to topdeck when both players are topdecking
-Potential high attack for a LV 4
monster
-One of the cards that made reverse effect cards less useful
Cons:
-Requires smart resource manangement to use properly
-Only has a peak of 2000 attack=useless
if opponent has control of field
-All effects only activate when you are disadvantaged
This card is a card first used by Kaiba in the Yu-Gi-Oh! storyline during the 4 way battle royale. It was also used when
Kaiba went 1 vs. 1 against Jounouchi. This card is the first card in Japanese to follow the "Worldwide Standard" card designs.
It was released as a V-Jump Promo as an Ultra and again in DL3 as an Ultimate. Blade Knight is one of the two cards
I
can think of that gets a "Desperation" effect.(The other being Nightmare Teebe.)
By "Desperation", think of when you play certain video games in which you are low on HP (such as Final Fantasy). When you
are low on resources, then Blade Knight will unleash his special abilities. It is probably one of the only 2000 ATK monsters
that don't have a serious detrimental effect. The other effect is to negate reverse effect monsters while it is by itself
on
the field. I've heard in many places that reverse effects are obsolete and Blade Knight is one of the reasons for this
belief.
The effects only work when you are disadvantaged...If you have good resources, Blade Knight is nothing more than a 1600/1000
Light/Warrior with NO EFFECT! Who would put a monster that has NO EFFECT and low attack in their deck?!? However, sometimes
people set their whole hand down just to increase its attack by that mere 400...If you are looking for a full
beatstick,
use Berserk Gorilla. Blade Knight is more of a technical card, not exactly a beatstick...If you are looking for Anti-Reverse
effect cards, then you can always use Mystic Swordsman LV2, but that has low attack. XDDD
Some words of advice for people thinking of using this card:
1. It is pretty damn expensive.
2. I don't want to sound
offending, but you need the right "feel" to use this card. Without it, this card will kill you by giving you impulse to set
your hand when unnecessary...
3. In other words, if your level is lower than a veteran player, you need to learn resource
management very well before you can use Blade Knight correctly.
9/10-In this day and age, it is known that 2-in-1 cards are always good. Blade Knight is just one of those
cards. It has very high versatility due to its dual effects. The fact that it is a warrior also makes it searchable even without
Black Forest Witch.
Other notes: This card is one of my personal favorites as well...I've seen the mistakes I've made while using this
card as well. Keep in mind, this is powerful card that requires skill to use properly...I'm still perfecting my "feel" with
it even now...
